When it comes to cleansing your body of harmful toxins, a good place to start is with the stomach.
You’ll be happy to hear that lots of food items you already have at home are great for helping to naturally cleanse the body whilst supporting the digestive system.
Here are five easy options that you can add to your diet:
Rich in chlorophyll, dark leafy greens like kale and spinach can help cleanse your digestive tract and detoxify your liver. Other super good greens to include in your daily diet are asparagus, swiss chard, leeks, peas and sea vegetables such as seaweed. Try adding these to smoothies, simple leafy salads or stir fry dishes.
Aromatic, flavourful and full of fibre, fennel seeds are great at aiding your digestion, reducing bloating and helping to cleanse the system. You can chew a tea spoon of fennel seeds each day, add to your spicier dishes, or simply enjoy in a herbal tea.
Aloe vera juice
Aloe vera is an incredible plant loved for its cleansing and healing effect on the entire digestive system. It’s also revered for its ability for helping to rid the body of toxins in a safe and powerful way. Try adding aloe vera juice to your daily morning green juice or smoothie.
Psyllium husk is one the most effective herbs in naturally supporting digestive wellbeing, helping the body to remove excess toxins that have built up in the digestive tract. Psyllium husks can be added to smoothies or juices, or with other high fibre foods such as oats or cereals.
A well-known digestive aid, cayenne pepper helps stimulates the digestive tract and, support the body’s ability to metabolise food and remove toxins. Try combing with lemon juice, honey, cayenne and warm water to make a cleansing morning drink.
